Spring is coming. The world comes alive. Fresh blossoming out of a field of grass that makes me happy. I'm full of energy and I have turned my happiness into colorful earrings. 7,5x7 cm of optimism. The rivolis are sewed on in the middle.
This jewelry catches one's attention and is a major accent of an outfit. It won't go unnoticed for sure. The earrings are large so they especially suit faces square, oval and rectangular-shape
Soutache
cords are woven from rayon or synthetic fibers threads (in past they used silk,
wool or metallic bullion thread). It was a standard
application on clothes to indicate rank in military uniforms and to outline
numbers or players' names. I’ve even
found soutache cords used to decorate a picture in a church. By connecting
soutache cords with stones and beads I create my jewelry. I make every item by
sewing up all the components together.
My last piece
was gold and navy blue earrings. It was made on special order. I used Swarovski
rivoli crystal (it is my favorite component), Swarovski pearls and TOHO beads.
Here are
the steps of my work:
Preparing for
production. It is still just a mess but by spreading out the cords and beads, I
check the harmony of the colors.
When I pick
up the needle, I am like a ghost for a couple of days, as embroidering takes up
every minute of my free time. I’m going to post the pictures of my work step by
step but it is so hard for me to stop my activity for a minute to take a photo.
I like this
shade of green and shiny brown Swarovski pearls. I played little bit with shapes,
marked it by combination of contrastive green and beige. All of these pieces are accented by a black
tear on the bottom. I even don’t know where the idea came from. I just started
drawing during watching TV. 7 cm height and 4.2 cm width
Just wooden
buttons and a string. The earrings are very stark but remind me of spring. I found
the buttons in my mom’s collection. Those were rather old and needed some
restoring (I used sandpaper). Beads were
bought in a dry goods store. Unusually, I
didn’t impregnate earrings when I finished - a wood is prettier with age.
I work as customer service manager in an electronic company.
I enjoy skiing, reading a book, traveling and more.
But my true loves are threads, needles, beads and colors.
